What Dandadan is about

Dandadan opens with two high schoolers in an argument. Momo Ayase believes in ghosts. Her grandmother is a spirit medium. Aliens strike her as silly. Okarun is a shy boy at her school who is obsessed with the occult. He is certain UFOs exist and scoffs at ghosts.

So they make a bet. Momo goes to a place known for UFO sightings. Okarun visits a tunnel that is said to be haunted. Each of them turns out to be wrong in the worst possible way. Aliens capture Momo. A yokai called Turbo Granny possesses Okarun and takes something very personal from him. In the middle of that chaos Momo's psychic powers wake up.

After that night the pair team up. They fight aliens, spirits and urban legends together. Bit by bit they also fall for each other. Yukinobu Tatsu fills the pages with dense and frantic art.

The genres are action, comedy, drama, romance, Sci-Fi and supernatural. Themes include youkai, urban fantasy, aliens and ghosts. This is a series for readers who want action, horror, romance and dumb jokes in the same chapter. A fair warning before you buy: there is crude sexual humor and some fan service.
