This page explains what Mangainfo stores about you, why it is stored and for how long.
Mangainfo is run by a sole proprietorship in Denmark. It is the data controller for the data described here. Contact details are in the imprint.
Reading without an account
You can read every public page without an account. No cookie is set.
Visits are counted with Umami. Umami runs on Mangainfo's own server. It sets no cookie and stores no IP address. It records the page, the referring site, the browser, the operating system, the device type and the country and region. These counts cannot be traced back to you.
Application logs record errors. They do not record IP addresses.
Following without an account
When you press Follow without an account, the list of the series you follow is stored in your browser's local storage. Nothing is stored before you press Follow, because the list is the service you asked for. The list stays on your device. To show the next volumes, your browser sends the names of the followed series to Mangainfo, and these requests are not linked to you. You delete the list by removing the series on the Your series page or by clearing the site data in your browser.
Bringing your list from AniList sends the username you enter from your browser to AniList, which answers with your public list. Mangainfo never sees the username. A MyAnimeList export file is read in your browser and is never uploaded. In both cases only the numbers of the series in the list go to Mangainfo, to find the series it has.
The newsletter
The Monday newsletter needs no account. Mangainfo stores your email address and when you confirmed it, and which Monday mails went out to it, so none is sent twice. A sign up only counts once you click the link in the confirmation mail. An address that is not confirmed within a week is deleted. Every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe, and the address and its record of sent mails are deleted then. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)).
With an account
With an account Mangainfo stores the following:
- Your email address. It is your login and the address alerts go to.
- Your name and time zone, if you add them.
- The series you follow and your notification settings.
- Which alerts were sent to you, so none is sent twice.
- Your collection: what you own, want or have read.
- Corrections and missing editions you send in.
- When you last signed in.
Asking for a sign in link stores your email address with a scrambled copy of the link. Both are deleted a day after the link stops working.
Signing in sets one cookie. It keeps you signed in for 30 days and is needed for the account to work.
The legal basis is the agreement between you and Mangainfo when you create an account (GDPR article 6(1)(b)). The newsletter is sent only with your consent (article 6(1)(a)). Protecting the site against abuse is a legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f)).
Who processes data for Mangainfo
- Hetzner Online GmbH runs the server in Helsinki, Finland, and stores the backups in Falkenstein, Germany. Both are in the EU.
- Cloudflare, Inc. carries all traffic to the server. It processes IP addresses to deliver pages and to block attacks. Cloudflare can set a short lived security cookie when it has to check that a visitor is not a bot. The sign in form and the correction forms use Cloudflare Turnstile for that check.
- Cloudflare also delivers email: sign in links, alerts and the newsletter. It receives your email address and the content of the email.
Cloudflare is based in the United States. Transfers rely on the EU standard contractual clauses in its data processing agreement and on the EU US Data Privacy Framework, where Cloudflare is certified.
Mangainfo does not sell data. There are no advertising cookies and no third party trackers.
How long data is kept
Account data is kept until you delete the account. Deleting it removes your email address, follows, collection and settings at once. Corrections you sent stay in the database without your name.
Database backups are kept for up to 12 months. Deleted data disappears from them as old backups expire.
Links to shops
When you follow a link to a shop, the shop's own privacy policy applies. An affiliate link tells the shop that the visit came from Mangainfo. It does not tell Mangainfo who you are.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent to the newsletter at any time with one click.
Write to kontakt@mangaverden.dk. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet, at datatilsynet.dk.
