Data sources
Updated
Mangainfo assembles its data from the sources below. Every value on the site records the source it came from and when it was fetched. When sources disagree the more reliable source wins. A value that no source confirms stays empty.
AniList
Series titles, authors, status, genres, popularity and start and end dates. AniList provides the starting list of series. Its readers' recommendations fill "More like this" on series pages. Descriptions from AniList are never shown on Mangainfo.
MyAnimeList through Jikan
Volume counts, the serialization magazine and the Japanese publisher. Read through Jikan, an unofficial MyAnimeList API.
National Diet Library Search
Japanese volumes with ISBN and publication date. The National Diet Library is the national library of Japan.
This service uses the NDL Search API. Metadata source: National Diet Library Catalog (iss-ndl-opac), licensed CC BY (Public Data License 1.0). Mangainfo edits the data: it matches volumes to series and to English editions.
openBD
Confirms the ISBN, title, publisher and release date of Japanese volumes.
Google Books
English editions with ISBN, publisher, date and page count. Every edition page with Google Books data links back to the matching Google Books page.
ISBNdb
English editions that Google Books does not have.
Wikipedia
The chapters each Japanese volume holds, from the chapter lists of English Wikipedia: the volume number, its Japanese ISBN and its chapter numbers. Also the chapters an anime season adapts, where a season article states them. Mangainfo takes numbers only, never text. A series is filled only when its ranges run on without a gap and agree with the Japanese volumes. An editor checks every anime range before it shows. Each page that shows these numbers links the Wikipedia page they come from. Wikipedia text is by its contributors under CC BY-SA 4.0.
Wikidata
Links a series on AniList to its pages on Wikipedia, through the AniList ids on Wikidata items. Wikidata is CC0.
Publisher calendars
Release calendars from publishers. They enter the database through an import that an editor checks. Calendars are read automatically only when the publisher offers a feed or has given permission.
Amazon
Links to Amazon stores, built from the ISBN. Prices follow once Mangainfo is admitted to the Amazon Product Advertising API.
Readers
Corrections and missing editions sent in by readers. An editor checks each one before it is applied.
