How to read Fire Punch in English: where to start

What Fire Punch is about

Fire Punch takes place in a world buried under endless snow. Food is scarce. A few people are born with special powers. Agni is one of them. He can regrow any part of his body. He uses that gift to feed his starving village with his own flesh.

Then a soldier arrives and sets the village on fire. This fire cannot be put out. It burns until nothing is left. Agni's healing keeps him alive inside the flames. He sets out for revenge while his body is still burning.

The series is by Tatsuki Fujimoto. It was Fujimoto's first serialized series. It came before Chainsaw Man. The genres are action, drama, mystery, psychological, supernatural and thriller. Its themes are tragedy and revenge in a post-apocalyptic and dystopian world.

Who it is for

Fire Punch is bleak. It is also very hard to predict. The manga contains extreme violence and cannibalism. Other disturbing material shows up too. This one is meant for adult readers. It suits fans of dark stories that refuse to go where you expect. If that sounds like your kind of read then Fire Punch belongs on your shelf.
