Kaiju No.8 takes place in a Japan where giant monsters attack so often that killing them is an army job. Someone also has to clear away the bodies once the fight is over.
These picks are the series on Mangainfo that share the most themes and genres with Kaiju No.8 in AniList's tags and have English volumes out, with the more popular series winning any close call. Every volume count and date below is as of October 2026. Each pick is an action series with a sci-fi side, just like Kaiju No.8 itself.
Go! Go! Loser Ranger!
Tokusatsu, henshin and shapeshifting all link Go! Go! Loser Ranger! to Kaiju No.8. The series is by Negi Haruba. Its genres and themes say what kind of story it is. It mixes action, comedy, drama and sci-fi. Its themes point to a revenge story built around an anti-hero.
In Japan the series is still releasing and has reached 22 volumes. The English edition has 18 so far. Kodansha puts out volume 19 on 24 November 2026. That leaves three Japanese volumes still to come in English after it.
Undead Unluck
Kaiju are one of the tags that Undead Unluck shares with Kaiju No.8. Super powers and gore are two more. The series is by Yoshifumi Tozuka. On top of action and sci-fi it adds comedy and the supernatural.
Its main character is Fuuko Izumo. She cannot let anyone touch her skin. Whoever does is struck by disaster.
The series is finished in Japan at 27 volumes. English readers have 26 of them. VIZ Media releases volume 27 on 20 October 2026. That will match the 27 volumes in Japan.
World Trigger
Military, guns and super powers connect World Trigger to Kaiju No.8. Daisuke Ashihara is the author. Its genres are action and sci-fi, the same pair as Kaiju No.8. Its themes add aliens, war and augmented reality.
The series is still releasing in Japan with 29 volumes so far. English has 28 of them. VIZ Media has volume 29 set for 16 February 2027. After that the English edition will be level with Japan for now.
Fire Force
Readers who want a finished story can pick up Fire Force by Atsushi Ookubo. It shares the military side of Kaiju No.8 along with super powers and an urban fantasy setting. Its genres are action, drama, sci-fi and the supernatural. Firefighters, religion and conspiracy are among its themes.
The story is set in Tokyo long after a disaster burned most of the world. In that city spontaneous human combustion is a constant threat.
The series is finished in Japan at 34 volumes. All 34 are out in English. The English edition is complete. There is no next volume to wait for.
