[Oshi no Ko] in English: where it stands before volume 14

What the story is

[Oshi no Ko] is by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari. It began in Japan in 2020. The series mixes Drama, Mystery, Psychological and Supernatural genres. Its themes are acting, idols, reincarnation and twins.

Ai Hoshino is a teenage idol with a secret. She is pregnant with twins. Idols are expected to stay single. A pregnancy could end her career. So she goes to a small hospital deep in the countryside to give birth in secret. The doctor who takes her case turns out to be a fan of hers. Not long after that he is reborn as one of her twins. He starts life again as a baby with an adult mind.

That strange premise is only the opening. The manga grows into a drama about the Japanese entertainment business. It follows idol groups and acting work from the inside. It shows the lies stars tell to guard their image. It also shows what those lies cost them. Under the showbiz plot runs a mystery.

The series suits readers who like character drama with dark turns. It is also for anyone who wants an honest look at fame.

The Japanese run is over. [Oshi no Ko] ended in Japan in 2024. It runs 16 volumes in total. The story is complete. English readers have a full ending waiting for them.

Yen Press publishes [Oshi no Ko] in English. As of October 2026 there are 13 English volumes out. The latest is volume 13. It came out on 28 April 2026.
