Romance is against the rules at Koharu, a girls' high school. That is a problem for its most unusual students. Sakamoto, Hijikata, Okita and Kondo are all enrolled. Each girl holds the soul of a famous Bakumatsu samurai from the turbulent last years of the shogunate and remembers that earlier life. Now they have to get through modern teenage life instead. They bring their old loyalties and grudges with them along with brand new crushes. The result is a yuri school drama where historical rivalries and forbidden feelings feed each other. Hana Ikuta has said this was her first commissioned series and that it is close to her heart. It suits yuri readers and history buffs who enjoy seeing real figures reimagined in a modern school.
