Umi Asanagi holds a ranking she never asked for. The boys in her class have placed her second, right behind her best friend Yuu Amami, and that puts her firmly in the popular crowd. Maki Maehara keeps to himself and expects nothing from school. What the two share is a love of cheap B movies, which they find out when they cross paths at a video rental shop. From there they spend their after-school hours at his apartment and keep the friendship quiet in class. The appeal is low-key: two people who can finally relax around someone. Based on Takata's light novels, it suits readers who like romance that grows out of friendship.
