Hoshigahara Aomanjuu no Mori
Hoshigahara has a small patch of woods that most locals think is home to spirits or nature gods. Local children are afraid of the place, and strange creatures really do appear there. Soichi makes his home in the one house among the trees. His neighbors are fairies, and his days are spent in their company. That simple setup is the whole foundation. Hisae Iwaoka, who also created Saturn Apartments, builds a slice of life fantasy on it. The series was a jury selection at the Japan Media Arts Festival. It suits readers who like folklore-tinged fantasy and stories that stay close to everyday life.
