Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu
伊藤潤二の猫日記よん&むー
Itou Junji no Neko Nikki: Yon & Mu
Yon's back has a pattern that looks like a skull, and J-kun is sure the cat is cursed. J-kun is Junji Ito's stand-in in this comic memoir. He sees himself as a dog person. His new house already holds his mother and a chihuahua. Then A-ko, the woman he is about to marry, tells him her family's cat Yon is coming with her. She also adopts a Norwegian Forest kitten named Mu as a companion for Yon. Most of the jokes come from the art. Everyday scenes are drawn straight, then J-kun turns into a horror-manga monster when the cats ignore his feather wand. Short chapters cover escapes, a vet visit and failed bribes for a spot on the bed. Cat owners and Ito fans curious about his lighter side will have fun with it.
