Leticia Dorman, called Lettie, is a duke's daughter. She has been engaged to Crown Prince Clarke since she was seven. Since then she has spent ten years in lessons on dancing, etiquette and everything else a queen must know. The girl who used to run free now feels caged. The only exit she can see is for Clarke to end the engagement himself. So when he turns up at a palace ball with a lady beside him, Lettie is overjoyed. She takes it as her release and heads for the countryside to live simply. Then Clarke shows up and tells her the engagement still stands. He means to win her heart. She means to get away. Their tug of war is the core of this romantic comedy, and Clarke is a playful send-up of the yandere type.
