MAO

Mao is a supernatural mystery from Rumiko Takahashi, the creator of Inuyasha. As a small child Nanoka Kiba survived a deadly accident at a shopping center. Now a middle schooler, she walks through its abandoned arcade on her way home. Suddenly she is in Taisho era Japan. There she meets Mao, a cursed onmyoji who practices medicine. He has been alive for nine hundred years and carries a longsword called Hagunsei. He is searching for Byoki, a demon cat. Bit by bit Nanoka recovers fragments of what happened to her that day. Something seems to tie her fate to Mao. Together they investigate murders, cults and people who vanish. It suits readers who want a darker Takahashi story with folklore, swordplay and a slow romance.
