Reincarnated Into a Game as the Hero’s Friend: Running the Kingdom Behind the Scenes is an isekai about the man who stays home while the hero goes off to fight. An office worker from Japan is reborn inside a fantasy RPG from his own youth. His new self is Werner von Zehrfeld, son of a high-ranking lord. In the game, Werner was a nameless background figure likely to die in the war against the Demon Lord. Werner befriends the hero Mazel and helps prepare him for the road. Once Mazel sets out, Werner stays behind and uses his memory of the game to defend the kingdom. He plans the kingdom's defense while keeping what he knows about the future to himself. It is based on a light novel. It suits readers who prefer strategy and politics to flashy combat.
