In A Prince of a Friend the prince is a girl. Mia Aida could pass for the handsome prince in a shojo manga. That is bad news for Rui Akai, her friend since childhood. His crushes have a habit of confessing to Mia. Rui is nobody's idea of a heartthrob, so Mia steps in with lessons. She will act as his girlfriend for practice and coach him until he can land a real one. The trouble is that the practice starts to work on Mia. Somewhere along the way she begins to see Rui as more than a friend. It is a light school rom-com with a neat role reversal at its center. Readers who like a princely heroine and a hapless hero should have fun with it.
