Paru Itagaki, the creator of Beastars, builds this horror romance on a premise that is more awkward than scary. Megumi has a strong sixth sense for the supernatural. Her marriage to Yuji has settled into routine, and in bed the only goal left is a baby. So when a ghost appears in the room while the couple are having sex, terror is not her first reaction. Shame is. A spirit has just seen how little passion is left in her marriage. Then it returns night after night. Before long it is offering her the attention her husband does not, and the visits turn into an affair. Sex and marital frustration are front and center. This is for adult readers who want a ghost story about desire rather than jump scares.
