Kimi wa Nazotoki no Ma Cherie
The first case here is a small one: shoes have gone missing from a café. It comes from Saku, a handsome waiter who works there, and it is the first case Mitsuko handles on her own. In 1930s Showa Japan detective work is supposed to be for men. Mitsuko gets sexist remarks at every turn and constant pressure to quit and stay home. She pays them no mind. Saku proves capable enough that she hires him as her assistant once the case is solved. The pair go on to tackle more cases together. It should appeal to readers who like historical mysteries, a determined heroine and a detective duo with charm.
