In Victorian England Earl Ciel Phantomhive is only 12. He already runs a noble household and a successful toy and sweets company. In secret he also works for Queen Victoria. She sends him after the crimes the police cannot touch. His butler Sebastian Michaelis is a demon in a tailcoat. He serves Ciel under a contract. Once Ciel has his revenge on the people who destroyed his family the demon will take his soul. Black Butler mixes gothic mystery, dark comedy and stylish action. Much of the comedy comes from Sebastian cleaning up after a hopeless household staff. It suits readers who like Victorian settings and detective cases led by a hero who is far from nice. Expect some gore.
