The Case Study of Vanitas

ヴァニタスの手記

Vanitas no Carte

The setting is a steampunk 19th-century Paris where vampires and humans live side by side. A curse is spreading among the vampires. It twists their true names and drives them into violent madness. Noé Archiviste is a young vampire flying to Paris on an airship. He is after the Book of Vanitas. During the flight a cursed vampire goes berserk. A cocky human named Vanitas brings her back to her senses and says he treats sick vampires for a living. He owns the very book Noé came for and uses it to cure the cursed. He is also arrogant and reckless. Noé ends up at his side anyway. The series mixes stylish action and gothic mystery with the prickly bond between two very different leads. It suits readers who like vampires, period settings and morally gray heroes.
