Real

リアル

Real is Takehiko Inoue's drama about wheelchair basketball and the people who play it. Tomomi Nomiya has dropped out of high school. He crashed his motorcycle with a girl riding on the back. She was badly hurt and the guilt follows him everywhere. Then he crosses paths with Kiyoharu Togawa. Togawa was a gifted sprinter until bone cancer took one of his legs. Now he plays wheelchair basketball with a fierce drive that puts him at odds with his more casual teammates. The series follows young men whose futures have been knocked off course and asks what they do next. Readers who know Inoue from Slam Dunk will recognize his love of the game. The tone here is heavier and more adult. It suits fans of grounded sports drama and stories about rebuilding a life.
