Ayumu Tanaka has made himself a promise: no confession until he beats Urushi Yaotome at shogi. That could take a while. A first-year with a strong kendo background, he barely knows the game, and she beats him again and again. The shogi club has just two members. Urushi, a year ahead of him, is its president. She can tell how he feels. During their daily games after school she keeps trying to trick a confession out of him. Ayumu's childhood friends Takeru and Sakurako add a second slow romance to the cast. The creator also made Teasing Master Takagi-san, and the same patient style is here. Readers who like gentle teasing and tiny steps forward will be happy.
