Japan's habit of public apologies gets a gruesome makeover in this Junji Ito book. Yuuma Azawa is devoted to the devil and cannot stop saying sorry even for trifles. Much of the apologizing is on behalf of his little sister Chizumi, who is cruel to almost everyone she meets. People around these two literally melt. Each linked story drops the siblings somewhere new, starting with Yuuma's new high school and moving on to a little apartment building and beyond. Two unrelated bonus shorts fill out the book. Expect melting bodies, gore and a mean streak of satire. It suits readers who like Ito's body horror and want something a little sharper about modern society.
