Heavenly Delusion
天国大魔境
Tengoku Daimakyou
Heavenly Delusion tells two stories side by side. In the first story Japan lies in ruins fifteen years after an unexplained catastrophe. A teenage boy named Maru crosses the overgrown cities with Kiruko. She is a tough young woman with a gun who has agreed to be his bodyguard. They are looking for a place called Heaven. Man-eating monsters roam the ruins and Maru has an unusual way of dealing with them. The second story takes place inside a walled school where gifted children grow up under constant watch. They have never seen the outside world. Then one of them gets a message asking if she wants to go outside. The series is a slow-burning mystery with sudden violence and some sexual content. It suits readers who like post-apocalyptic road stories and puzzles that pay off over time.
